With the retail sector suffering severely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, luxury retailers also have to cope with fast-changing legislation globally. The retail team at law firm Dentons has compiled a link to a country-by-country summary to help businesses stay in the loop about these changes. The guide gives the latest insights into laws in 28 countries from five continents as governments worldwide deal with the economic fallout of the pandemic.
With shops are opening up in various regions - last week saw retailers open doors in Germany and Austria - new hygiene regulations are a feature of store openings. Some regions are demanding that retailers install protective shields at checkout. German states are insisting on the wearing of masks whilst retailers also are installing hand sanitizers.
Fashion group Esprit has reopened around 50 of its self-managed stores in Germany. It has introduced training for its employees regarding the new regulations which vary from region to region. Meanwhile new shopping rules include customers wearing masks, increased cleaning personnel and disinfectants.
